Jacopone da Todi Poetry Prize

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

Franciscan University Press is accepting 48-100 page manuscripts during August 2018 for its Jacopone da Todi Poetry Prize.  We want work which reflects a disciple's heart. Please submit your manuscripts, contact information, acknowledgements, and biography. The Press will be reading submissions from August 1-31, 2018.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Deadline: Entries must be sent by email to the editor and co-editors (see addresses below) or postmarked and sent to the Franciscan University Press by August 31, 2018. Manuscripts submitted to the contest will be read and judged anonymously.
  2. Open to any poet writing in English, age 18 or older, regardless of publication history.
  3. Individual poems in the manuscript may have been published previously in a chapbook, magazines, journals or anthologies, but the work as a whole must be unpublished. Poets must own rights to all poems submitted. Please let us know immediately if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere.
  4. Translations are not eligible.
  5. Send 48-100 pages of poetry—any style or theme—with a table of contents and an acknowledgements page for any previously published poems.
  6. The page count does not include the table of contents or acknowledgements.
  7. Email submissions are preferred. Emailed submissions should include the author’s name on the last page only.
  8. If submitting by hard copy, the submission must be typed with each poem beginning on a new page, each page numbered, and have the following information included on a separate title page:
    1. contest title,
    2. manuscript title,
    3. author name,
    4. address,
    5. telephone number,
    6. email (if available).

It is important that your name and contact information not appear anywhere else in the manuscript.  Please also include a flash drive or CD-ROM with an electronic copy of the manuscript.

The submission can be sent to:
